Bob Bynum was the youngest coach invited to attend an event held in Summer 1974 and hosted by Arthur Ashe. The private conversation and guidance inspired Coach Bob to become a full-time tennis coach with credentials from the USTA. He has ascended to the ranks that few hold: a certified USTA Elite Coach Tennis Professional.
March 2022: Bob Bynum was awarded the 2022 USTA George Seewagen Award. This prestigious honor is awarded to a USTA Eastern region teaching professional who exemplifies excellence in competition, sportsmanship and love of the game.
Bob Bynum was inspired when he met Arthur Ashe and learned how tennis can impact inner city youth. He has played with professionals, been the pro at tennis clubs and head coach at schools and university programs - however, one thing remains consistent: he continues to partner with Greater Newark Tennis & Education (GNTE).
